Till date in the history of Tests, Clive Lloyd of West Indies has captained the 5th most number of matches. He has captained 74 matches between 1974 and 1985 and won 36 matches.

Currently, Ricky Ponting of Australia has captained the 4th most number of Test matches. He has captained 77 matches between 2004 and 2010 and won 48 matches.

Stephen Fleming of New Zealand has captained the 3rd most number of Test matches. He has captained 80 matches between 1997 and 2006 and won 28 matches.

Allan Border of Australia has captained the 2nd most number of Test matches. He has captained 93 matches between 1984 and 1994 and won 32 matches.

And in the history of Tests, Graeme Smith of South Africa has captained the most number of matches. He has captained 109 matches between 2003 and 2014 and won 53 matches.
