Top 5 bowlers with best economy rate in Tests

Do you know which bowler has the best career economy rate in history of Tests? It is very surprising that, among the top 5, there is no one after the year 1970?

In the history of Tests, Bert Ironmonger of Australia has the 5th best career economy rate of 1.69. Ironmonger has given 1330 runs bowling 4695 balls, in 14 matches in his career between 1928 and 1933.

Bapu Nadkarni of India currently occupies the 4th spot in the list with an economy rate of 1.67. Nadkarni has given 2559 runs bowling 9165 balls, in 41 matches in his career between 1955 and 1968.

Trevor Goddard of South Africa occupies the 3rd spot with an economy rate of 1.64. Goddard has given 3226 runs bowling 11736 balls, in 41 matches in his career between 1955 and 1970.

Cliff Gladwin of England currently occupies the 2nd spot with an economy rate of 1.6. Gladwin has given 571 runs bowling 2129 balls, in 8 matches in his career between 1947 and 1949.

And in the history of Tests, William Attewell of England has the best career economy rate of 1.31. Attewell has given 626 runs bowling 2850 balls, in 10 matches in his career between 1884 and 1892.
